See this link for more details on how you can carve by day and drink wine and dine in the hill top town of Cortona, Italy by night! Toscano Americana

The following classes are held here at The Funky Chicken Art Project

Inkle loom construction and use July 10th and 11th, 2010 This is a class that will only take 2 three hour sessions on July 10th and 11th. There are only 4 places available in the class, as I am building the loom kits out of red oak. I have 2 places available as of June 29th. All materials are provided in the class fee of $110.00. The loom is a medieval style loom that will weave a length of trim or belt approximately 7 feet long. If you have always wanted to weave, but don't have the patience for warpming a big loom, then this is a good loom to have.

August 21st and again on August 22nd, 2010
"Paint your heart out!" with Linda Kennedy

This class is for those who think they lost their ability to be creative. It is in there, and Linda can help you find it again. "Through my Paint Your Heart Out workshops, I guide people in connecting to their creative spirit that I know is in everyone, but might need a little nudging to reveal itself. Now, don't roll your eyes! You are creative! Simply painting, just doing it the way you did it when you were 4 years old, can bring a joyful playfulness back to your life. We use simple materials: tempera paints and paper and yet…. It is this simplicity that grants you the power to transform yourself in ways you cannot imagine. You have permission to have fun! You have permission to be messy, to make mistakes, to create with no agenda and to indulge yourself in the process with out assigning meaning or even resulting in a beautiful product… It is truly all about you loving all the parts of you, including the wonderful creative you."
A three hour class with Linda Kennedy from Savannah, Georgia to get in touch with your creative self! She encourages students who are open minded and want to try new things, interested in a little self-exploration. "Images appear if you just let them as they do in a dream...so this encourages you be open to the process." All materials are supplied by Linda.
Cost of class is $65.00

fairy doors

Beginners Woodcarving a Fairy door
Fairy doors have become welcome in many homes for that little touch of magical delights in our everyday lives. They make lovely surprises for children to use their imaginations with and decorate odd little corners with a spellbound enthusiasm for the unexpected. Without fairies about, everything goes amuck!

A required tool list for professional tools is included, and will be provided wit registration. Included in the instruction will be safety and tool maintenance, stropping, and sharpening techniques.

We will carve a magical little fairy door that goes through carving skills that can easily be applied to other projects. The step by step instruction will be written on a handout that follows each step, and will include the choice between several provided patterns. No prior experience in carving or woodworking is required. The pine blanks will be provided cut out in the shapes needed, and construction will be completed in the class time. The final steps will include painting and finishing the fairy door. The fairy door was a step-by-step article I wrote for Woodcarving Illustrated Magazine's spring 2010 edition.
